Squarez for the PSP

Squarez was made for the Sony PlayStation Portable in 2005, and it still runs on one today. Pick the 2026 version which includes bug fixes, live grid and a new song Acid Squarez, or the original 2005 game, rebuilt to run on today's PSPs (the 2005 zip is here also). Each zip contains the game, sounds, default theme and a few custom games.

How to install on your PSP

  1. Unzip it. Inside is a PSP folder (in the 2005 zip, a SQUAREZ folder).
  2. Plug the PSP in by USB (Settings, USB Connection) and copy the PSP folder to the top of the Memory Stick (the 2005 zip's SQUAREZ folder goes into PSP/GAME/).
  3. Unplug, then Game, Memory Stick, Squarez.

The PSP needs to run homebrew: custom firmware today, or firmware 1.x for the 2005 zip. v0.8.3 installs as PSP/GAME/Squarez083 and v0.8.1 as PSP/GAME/Squarez, so both can be on the Memory Stick at once. To bring your high scores over to v0.8.3, copy squarez.cfg from Squarez into Squarez083. Your own custom games go in that version's custom folder, the same files the browser version's EXPORT saves.
